The sound of Spring

For most of us new green shoots, daffodils and buds on trees mean Spring is near.

Today, it was sound that conveyed the change from winter to me:

Long before the songbirds are returning, the bees are emerging. As I was cutting back spent foliage from  dozens of clumps of geraniums, I heard several bees buzzing nearby: they did not seem very interested in the irises that are also in flower, but settled instead for the colonies of crocus.

Hope you can hear the sound of Spring approaching soon, too.
