Last week I returned to the Budget Garden. A cheery sight greeted me as soon as I got out of the car:
Vibrant yellow crocus chrysanthus 'Gipsy Girl' are happily mingling with winter aconites.
This species crocus flowers a little earlier than other crocus and flowering coincides with winter aconites. The sea of yellow is enriched by the orange stamens of the aconites and the purple stripe on the outside of the crocus petals.
It was too sunny to capture the stripes, so I had to hunt for a picture from a bulb supplier.

This crocus will happily naturalize given time which makes it a perfect choice for the budget garden.
