Aux Portes du Palais

A problem with the gas boiler has necessitated some lengthy repairs, meaning I am at home when I would rather be out sowing salads. The silver lining on this particular cloud is that I get to wear a silk scarf and prepare the little gardener's birthday party during the day rather than in the evening.

Time to break out "Aux Portes du Palais".

Meaning literally "at the palace gates" this is a fun design from AW 2008/9, designed by Christine Henry for the Year of India.

Christine Henry is also behind
  • Reves d'Escargots (SS 2012)
  • l'Arbre de Vie (AW 2011/12)
  • Nuages Imaginaires (SS 2011)
  • La Legende du Poisson Coral (SS 2010)
  • Peuple du Vent (SS 2009)
  • Chemins Garrigue (SS 2006)
  • Rives Fertiles (AW 2005/06)
  • La Mecanique des Idees (SS 2004)
  • Escales Mediterranes (SS 2003)
  • Axis Mundi II (AW 2001/02)
  • www. hermes.com (AW 2001/02)
  • Axis Mundi (SS 1999)
  • Cave Felem (SS 1998) and quite a few more

There is so much I love about this scarf. First of all the colours: although the primary colour is a bright orange, it seems to work for my colouring and wardrobe.

The design is quirky and intricate and provides ample opportunity for me and the little gardener to explore. It would make an excellent scarf to display.

.
Depending how I tie it, it can have a saucy side as it displays a fair share of nudity.

The corners are stunning and are worth showing off.

This scarf is stunning whichever way I wear it, be it as a top

or taking the minimalist scarf necklace route.

I am hard pushed to think of a more versatile scarf.

  3. Breathtaking scarf, and just perfect for you . It must be one you'd chose to take to a desert island .
Well, maybe a cool temperate island as all that silk can get a little hot.
