I am a gardener and garden designer working in Central England since 2008. I specialise in the sympathetic renovation and restoration of gardens. Follow me as I chart progress in various gardens.
One of my hobbies includes Hermès silks, so expect my blog to be interspersed with the odd scarf or three. For me wearing a piece of silk art is the perfect antidote to a day's hard graft.
Lilac indeed, a dwarf variety which has smaller panicles, too and is therefore not as attractive as the real deal. Easy to grow if you are happy to deal pulling out suckers by the dozen.
Jeanne, I feel for you, and so glad you find the pictures a joy. Fresh flowers in the house are a big part of my life, sort of a rewerd at the end of a hard day or a memento of a particularly good day. Luckily most of my clients are happy for me to help myself. We need to talk about good fake flowers some time!
I too have a dwarf variety in my garden, I wish I could remember the cultivar. It maxed out at about 3' high x 4' wide. I love a succession of blooms. (it's the sign of a good designer) Right now the azaleas are stealing the show along with early perennials like creeping phlox and bleeding heart and peony. They will be followed by the rhododendrons and Mt.Laurel. As a gardener you don't need a calendar, just look out the window, see what's blooming and you have your answer!
aaaaaah, is that the scent of lilac I detect? What a wonderful fragrance and such an easy plant to grow.

DeleteMy allergies prevent me from having fresh flowers in the house so I check in just to see yours and enjoy! Thanks:-)
