I was very surprised and touched beyond words when a good friend of mine had hunted down a rather special birthday gift for me. Although we are very good friends but don't normally exchange much more than token for our birthdays;she must have remembered that I have a bit of collection of Hermès silk scarves going which we briefly considered when she was looking for purple scarf for a wedding outfit. Recently trawling Ebay she came across a little gavroche that she thought might suit.

She was not sure whether it was the real deal but I am certain it is; a lot of silk has passed through my hands over the years and the feel, dimensions, hems, stitching and care tag, even the tissue paper and box all seem to say "authentic".

This is quite a masculine design, marrying a linear motif and the use of colour in such a way that it becomes nearly three dimensional. The horse seems to leap off it in a second and adds life to an otherwise austere design.
