Labour of love part 3

A day filled with errands (GCSE results for the handsome d*vil = thumbs up, MOT for the van = thumbs up, finalise autumn plant order with nursery = thumbs up), left me with some time to do another round of weeding and deadheading at the tin tabernacle.

Dahlia 'Eternal Snow'

This reminds me of the plant list that is overdue, so here goes.

Shrubs
  • Choisya ternata
  • Philadelphus 'Virginal'
  • Viburnum opulus Roseum
Autumn flowering bulbs
  • Acidanthera Callianthus
  • Gladioli 'Sancerre'
  • Crocus speciosus Albus *

Plants that need lifting
  • Dahlia 'Eternal Snow'
  • Dahlia 'Twining's After Eight'

Grasses
  • Calamagrostis x acutiflora 'Karl Foerster' *
  • Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' *
Herbaceous perennials
  • Papaver orientale 'Perry's White'
  • Cephalaria gigantea *
  • Aster umbellatus *
  • Sedum spectabile 'Iceberg' *
Starred plants will be planted as part of my autumn planting exercise, spring flowering bulbs dito.

Dahlia 'Twinings After Eight' with Marguerite 'Paris White'

After four months, there is finally some white (and green) to soothe the eye. I have snuck in a few annual Marguerites to fill the big gap at the front; I had grown these from seed as a gap filler for some gardens and had plenty plants spare. They look just like tiny versions of the dahlias.

The shrubs on the list should grow to be fine and impressive specimens.

And I should add, I cannot wait for the dead ivy to fall of that wall; the owners still insist on us not touching it for fear it will rip the paint of. Am I being unreasonable?
