Return to Mrs U-turn

Daily life often takes me past Mrs U-turn's house. The "For Sale" board has been put up and I still get a lump in my throat when driving past.

I have now been approached by one of the executors of her will, so l will continue to look after the garden until a buyer has been found.

Winter scent

The small town garden houses a number of little gems, no, not lettuces, I should add but plants that surprise.

The sound of Spring

For most of us new green shoots, daffodils and buds on trees mean Spring is near.

Today, it was sound that conveyed the change from winter to me:

Surviving the frost?

Whilst it was great fun to spend a few days in London last weekend, it was with a fair bit of trepidation that I returned home.

Grasses

This week took me to the small town garden, specifically the front garden.

This time of year is when this tiny plot looks it worst:

Happy Valentine's Day

Dispensing with the traditional red roses here but I hope all will be forgiven as I have lined up not just one but two little Valentine's Day's treats for you.

Golden Spider Silk

If you find yourself in London before 5 June 2012 with an hour to spare and are prepared to be amazed, then consider heading to the V&A for the Golden Spider Silk exhibition.

Chocolate week - Jonques et Sampans

As the frost has descended on our area and won't shift even by midday, I have time to "play" with scarves.

Another candidate to fit in with "chocolate week" is Jonques at Sampans. In the bias fold, this scarf is showing a lot of creamy white; I have to tie it with the corners showing to get the brown too show.

Chocolate week in the scarf drawers - Onde de Chic

Not the edible kind, but chocolate colours for scarves. Thinking dark brown, caramel, white,....

My prime candidate would be Onde de Chic, a scarf that I already blogged about here.

Anglesey Abbey Gardens - Shrubs & Trees

This simple but effective planting of silver birches (betula utilis var. jaquemontii) nearly made it as my weekend feature but in the end I decided that Anglesey Abbey Gardens in winter deserved a second post.

Tours de Cles

Another contribution to the "holidays" theme and whilst not depicting a holiday, it was bought whilst holidaying in Paris, on probably a day as cold as today.

Tours de Cles features a contrast hem and depicts keys arranged in a circle and also medor studs. I need to rummage in my old copies of Le Monde as there was an article about this design.

Brazil

The theme on the scarf board is "Holidays" and what better scarf to distract me from the grey and freezing weather than "Brazil".
