One step ahead of the game

Whilst I am bracing myself for colder weather (yes, I needed those thermals again this morning), nature is still in Spring mode.

The leaves of quite a few tulips have started to emerge (yay to surviving rummaging squirrels) but unlike daffodil leaves, they are a magnet for snails.

Before too much damage is done, I have whipped out my trusted slug pellets and each garden that I work on gets a dose where the tulips and hostas are. Years ago the use of slug pellets was a bit of a no-no but nowadays there are products around that are suitable for organic gardening. Growing Success's slug pellets are a point in case and are the ones that I use.

You can get 250gr tubes which are fine for most gardens and will probably last you the year; if you are blessed with a big plot (or tend many gardens), then the big 750gr tube is perfect. Best price currently at Primrose London. I have also added the Silent Roar cat repellent to my order which works well in some gardens but not in others; it all depends on the personality of the felines involved....

Hope your tulips emerge unscathed & have a lovely weekend.
